Drill
Explanation:
Auger-style sample-collection drill driven by a NEO 550 through a 48:1 reduction, spinning a wood auger bit at up to the motor's ~11,000 rpm free speed. Integrates a cache system that separates spoil by depth: an ejection hole positioned 10 cm above ground shoots out the shallow material collected while drilling the top layer, keeping surface debris clear. Once the drill plunges a full 10 cm, that hole is buried and self-plugs against the surrounding soil, so all deeper material travels up the auger and is retained in the cache as a clean subsurface sample. Mounts to the drill elevator for controlled vertical actuation.
