About:
I'm Aaron Lening Aviles, a second year Mechanical Engineering major at the University of California San Diego. My intended specialization is in Robotics and Controls with a minor in Design.
I love engineering and design, I am constantly working on some project, robotic, design, or broader engineering. I also care deeply about giving back to my community, I run and manage an engineering education non-profit that mentors SoCal underrepresent youth:
I am a Mobile Robotics Technology National Champion(2023 which I won with my good Friend Justin Nicolas) and a 3x Robotics California State Champion (2022-2023)
Currently I am the lead mechanical engineer at Yonder Dynamics, UC San Diego's Mars Rover project team. There I lead a team of about 15 member design a fully functional Rover. And this past year I was an Undergraduate Student Researcher at the Multi-Agent Robotics Lab, assisting on AI vision and dynamic collision avoidance using ROS II.
In my free time I mentor DUSD and TUSD students about math physics engineering and robotics through my non profit. On weekends I ref robotics tournaments and I enjoy going on bike rides around and up coast of La Jolla.
